In this tutorial, i'll show you some simple steps in creating a chrome text effect= by applying just a few styles..

Start a new document and fill the background with white.

Press "D" to reset your colors to black and white

Use the type tool to create your text. Make it fairly large.

Then go to Layers » Layer Style » Satin

James Jun/10/09 22:22Works, fine, nice simple and easy to follow tutorial. If you cant get it to work. READ the tutorial again CAREFULLY!
Raven Apr/7/09 06:53Works great. Looks better on some type than others and at some sizes than others. Just adjust settings to best fit the type and size you are working with. Great tutorial. Thank you

Gabby Feb/26/09 11:30worked for me. I agree w/Worked great. I had overlooked Step 3 and it wasn't coming out. until I went back and payed closer attn. It is easily missed, but fixable. GREAT TUT.... Keep them coming!!
Worked great Feb/26/09 06:11Thx for the tutorial. Had a major stumbling point (like several other folks that commented) in step 3 at Bevel & Emboss that was my own fault. Something easy to miss when changing the settings is the Highlight mode opacity (should be 100%). This is defaulted to something else, and is essential to make the effect work. I was trying to recreate the settings exactly, but somehow that was easy to overlook. HTH
red dogg Feb/22/09 03:26same to me...doesn't work...
LOLZ Feb/16/09 02:24Everyone...mine came out perfect. I think you just forgot that the gloss contour for Bevel and Emboss is Cone. It turned out black until i did that.

rob Feb/4/09 09:52This just doesnt work . There are 4 steps to this tutorial . After completing the 2nd step the text in the 3rd step in the picture shows the "w" should be white but mine just stays black . This Tutorial just doesnt work .
CyobRg Jan/28/09 00:15dsn't work :(
Zijafer Jan/27/09 02:48This works, just be to make sure the size of the bevil and boss fits your font or it will look horrible.
User Jan/20/09 03:11It does work - look carefully at the settings of the bevel and emboss! Take note of the Gloss Contour!
Helene Nov/28/08 20:09It does work. Text must be black. It does work on white text but doesn't show up so it doesn't look as though it works. Need to modify instructions to say this. Also, I managed to get this to work on smaller and skinnier fonts. In the Bevel/Emboss style, change the Depth to 100% and reduce the size to suit your font. 5px was enough for script fonts. Thanks for the tut. :D
